New Primary Play Area

New Primary Play Area

Our Fundraising Committee is really excited to announce that over the summer holidays work has been completed on a fantastic new and bespoke playground for the Primary provision based on our site in Milton.  This has been made possible through a grant of £12,000 from Tesco Bags of Help and a £10,000 grant from the Big Lottery Fund.

Big Lottery Fund

The Big Lottery Fund is the largest funder of community activity in the UK.  It puts people in the lead to improve their lives and communities, often through small, local projects.  It is responsible for giving out 40% of the money raised by National Lottery players for good causes. Last year it awarded £583 million and supported around 12,000 projects across the UK for health, education, environment and charitable purposes. Since June 2004 it has awarded over £8 billion to projects that change the lives of millions of people.

Tesco Bags of Help

Bags of Help is Tesco’s exciting local community grant scheme where the money raised from the sale of carrier bags is being used to fund thousands of local projects in communities right across the UK.  Launched in 2015, Bags of Help sees charities and community organisations awarded grants to fund local projects.  Three community projects in each local area will be voted on by customers in Tesco stores throughout the UK, with projects changing every other month.

This new play area will be of massive benefit to our primary students, providing them with a challenging and stimulating environment in which to play and to develop their social, cognitive and motor skills.  We are very grateful to both organisations for making this possible.

The Fundraising Committee is also hoping to secure a further grant this academic year to create a forest schools zone in additional land behind the playground area.  Watch this space for an update!
