Horse Riding Funded by The British Horse Society
Zadie and Lewis received funding from The British Horse Society to do a programme called 'changing lives through horses'. The programme was based at Urchinwood Manor Equestrian Centre where they attended every Thursday for 12 weeks. From this experience Zadie would like to be a veterinary nurse and Lewis would like to be a farrier. Lewis is doing work experience at a horse riding stables and in September Zadie will doing work experience at a vets. Both are now having private riding lessons too.
I am one of two people who were lucky enough to be given the opportunity to do horse riding, funded by the BHS. I started Urchinwood loving horses but being quite afraid of them because I didn't know much about them. But now I can't imagine my life without horses. Being at urchinwood hasn't just helped me being more comfortable around horses, it has also helped my confidence a lot. at the stables we muck out, groom, bath and look after the horses. Then ride them. Before Urchinwood I had only ridden a horse once, now I can walk, trot and canter. I am so grateful for the funding, it has helped me come a long way.
