Exam Results 2019

Students, supported by teachers, parents and carers, performed well in the 9-1 graded GCSEs this year.  GCSEs were achieved across a range of subjects including English Language, Maths, Art, Citizenship, Biology, Chemistry and Combined Science (which is worth two GCSEs).

Key information:

  • Some fantastic grade 7s (equivalent to A grades) were gained in Art & Design and Mathematics.
  • GCSE grades improved, with 86% of all year 11 students on roll achieving 1 or more GCSEs, an increase on the year before.
  • In the Tuition service, three students achieved 5 or more GCSEs at 9-4, including English and Maths.   In Weston Key Stage 4, two thirds of students gained at least five GCSEs (or the equivalent) graded 9-1.
  • Across the VLC, a 100% pass rate was achieved for BTEC Home Cooking Skills, Motor Vehicle Studies, and at entry level in Maths, English and Science.
  • Almost all students (97%) left VLC with a qualification or award and nearly two thirds of leavers (61%) attained a 9-1 grade in GCSE English and Maths.
