Exam Results 2018

Students at Voyage Learning Campus (VLC) did well in meeting the challenge of the reformed GCSEs this year. With support from teachers, parents and carers they gained some great exam results. GCSEs were achieved in English Language & Literature, Maths, Citizenship, Biology, Sociology and Religious Studies, with some fantastic grade 7s (equivalent to A grades) gained in Art & Design and Photography.

GCSE grades improved, with 77% of students achieving 1 or more GCSEs, an 11% increase on the year before. Thirty six students left with at least 1 GCSE (or equivalent), nine more than last year.

In the Tuition service, 92% of students achieved 3 or more GCSEs (or equivalent) at grades 9 – 1 and all Tuition students (100%) achieved at least one GCSE. In Weston, 70% of students gained at least one GCSE.

Across the VLC, a 100% pass rate was achieved at entry level in Maths, English and Science. Other students left VLC having developed important skills for life in relation to home cooking and motor vehicle maintenance as these areas also achieved a 100% pass rate.

Tony Hill, Acting Principal commented, “Our exam results are a testament to the hard work of our students and dedicated of our staff. There are many individual success stories and all can be rightly proud of what they have achieved.”

In terms of destinations after leaving VLC, 83% of year 11 leavers went to college, 9% took up apprenticeships, 6% transferred to a maintained school (monitored by VLC) and 2% joined the armed forces.
