Message from Ms Magee – Head of English and Literacy
Lock down or history in the making!
We are all a part of the history that will be known as Covid-19. This will be talked about for generations to come. Schools are closed; sports cancelled; people are quarantined on global level.
Can you keep a journal? Handwritten or typed in photographs or drawings.....record events, day to day activities, fears and feelings. Make a video journal. Interview parents, grandparents, neighbours, friends (from a safe social distance of course!).
When it is all over you will have a piece of history that you can give to your children and grandchildren. Keep your household's letter from the Prime Minister, Boris Johnson as this will be something you will keep like my mum kept her family's ration book from the Second World War.
We would feel privileged if you wanted to share them, or parts of them with us when we return to school.
Healthy Body and Minds
Please find attached a guide with suggested activities for a healthy body and mind during the lockdown. It also reminds us all of the rules around what we can do to go out and exercise.
Free School Meals
After Easter, the government have confirmed that £15 weekly vouchers will be available for all eligible families. We know that circumstances are changing for families; if you think might now qualify for free school meals, please go onto the North Somerset website here https://nsod.n-somerset.gov.uk/kb5/northsomerset/directory/fsm_app_landing.page .
We are aware that there are several ‘scams’ circulating; please remember that you will not be asked to provide any personal or bank details to receive the vouchers. If you are not sure about any communication, please do contact us to confirm.
Please keep in touch with us by following us on Facebook and Instagram – this will help keep you up-to-date with what is happening.
Wishing you a happy, if very different, Easter break
