End of Term 1 Letter
I would like to start by thanking you and your child for such a positive return to school this term. Whilst it's not always straightforward, we have enjoyed having students back in school and seeing them make progress over the last 7/8 weeks. We are all ready for the holiday – as a reminder, school will be open again on Tuesday, 3rd November.
Obviously, it is a challenging time at the moment with regard to the ongoing spread of Covid-19 nationally. At this time, North Somerset remains in Tier 1 so no new measures are needed. Our risk assessment remains in place and can be found on our website. If there is a move to Tier 2 or Tier 3 locally, there will be a change with regard to face coverings. If our tier changes, government legislation states that all staff and students in Y7 and above will be required to use a face covering in school, unless they are exempt. We will be in touch if this, or other changes, are needed.
Please note that in Phase 2 we have made some slight changes so that students have a staggered start and end of their school day. Year 8s and 9s will start at 8.45am and finish at 2.20pm, whilst Year 10s and 11s will start at 9.00 and finish at 3.00pm. Please speak to Mr Williams or Ms Copeland if you have any questions.
I am delighted to welcome Karen Worthington from Weston College as the new Chair of the Management Committee. The Management Committee is a group of volunteers who support with the running of the school. We do have 2 vacancies for parent members and if you are interested in finding out more, please contact Emma Smith, Clerk to the Committee. Her email is firstname.lastname@example.org or you can phone her on 01934 836299. We would love to have you involved.
Finally, there has been lots going on this term and if you check out our Facebook page you will find a video link celebrating staff and students across the school. I am very grateful to the whole staff team for their great efforts this term.
We will see you again in November.
