About Food technology at Voyage Learning Campus
All students at VLC have the opportunity to develop their skills and knowledge in the kitchen, cooking a wide range of dishes (vegetarian, meat, special diets), learning and practicing cooking skills and tasting a wide range of ingredients and dishes from around the world.
The Food Technology team want all students to practice their cooking skills, experiment with ingredients and try new and different ingredients, we don’t mind if the students don’t like the dish, we just want to everyone to try the dish – they might be surprised.
Sainsbury Chef Award
Students in KS1, KS2, Year 7 and Year 8, have the opportunity to gain Sainsbury Chef Awards, as students develop and progress their successes is recognised with the following Awards;

- Eatwell Chef
- Lite Bite Chef
- World Chef
- Head Chef
BTEC Home Cooking Skills, Level 1 and Level 2 Award
Students in Year 9, Year 10 and Year 11 have the opportunity to gain a BTEC 1 and/or Level 2 in Home Cooking Skills. This is a qualification endorsed by the TV Chef Jamie Oliver.
