What is Year 7 Literacy and Numeracy Catch Up Premium?
The literacy and numeracy catch-up premium gives schools additional funding to support year 7 pupils who did not achieve the expected standard in reading or maths at the end of key stage 2 (KS2). The funding is £500 per eligible pupil. This funding is designed to ensure that students receive the additional help and support they need to address gaps that have been identified in their literacy and numeracy skills.
How was the money spent in 2018/19?
For 2018/19 we received funding for 5 students which was spent in the following way:
- Catch Up Numeracy Intervention (training and delivery)
- Numeracy resources to support the delivery of personalised numeracy support
- Literacy IT resources including Kindles
- 1:1 tuition
How will the money be spent in 2019/20?
Funding is not yet confirmed for this academic year, and is likely to be released in February 2020. We will review our current provision on an ongoing basis, looking for appropriate intervention strategies using a new ‘Engagement and Outreach’ Worker to start in post in February
