Curriculum at Voyage Learning Campus
At Voyage Learning Campus we constantly strive to ensure that:
- All students have access to a broad and balanced curriculum, which is relevant and enables students to reach their full potential. Through planning meetings, bi termly reviews and carefully listening to the individual student, Parent/Carer and other professionals we deliver personalised learning tailored to the student and their needs. We work hard to make the curriculum dynamic and engaging, securing equality of opportunity for all our students.
- Every student has access to the statutory National Curriculum for alternative provision plus the opportunity to study a wide range of additional qualifications designed to equip them with the skills to move on to post 16 provision, back to mainstream school or in preparation for the world of work.
- Individualised programmes with accredited pathways are designed to meet the needs of each student. These aid a smooth transition and progression to mainstream education and post 16 routes.
We offer primary provision in line with mainstream schools by tailoring the content and pedagogy to meet the more specific needs of our students. The following subjects are taught: maths, literacy, daily phonics. We help students improve their reading skills through the Rapid Reading Programme Rapid Reading. In addition our students study: Science, Food Technology and Cookery. Religious Education is delivered as a discrete subject, whilst History, Geography and Art are taught through cross-curricular themes through topic work. Swimming is offered weekly to all the students. Physical Education is delivered by a fully qualified PE teacher in a local sports centre.
